“Favorite Poem Project,” a community poetry reading on the Whitman stage, is back for a third year, this time with emcee Suffolk County Legislature Susan Berland. Submitted poems should focus on inspiring, celebrating, championing and honoring women and their achievements or on exploring compelling themes, such as, feminist goals, workplace challenges, gender bias. Selected readers along with open mic raffle winners will be able to share their poems (not self-written).
Berland will share insights about her journey as a female elected official. A Q & A will follow.
This event is free and open to the public.
