Open Mic & Walking With Whitman: Dorianne Laux Nov. 3

WWBA presents the seventh season of its signature series Walking with Whitman: Poetry in Performance. New for 2017 is a community open mic! After a musical prelude, the main event begins at 8 pm with the featured poet, Dorianne Laux.

Dorianne Laux is the author of several collections of poetry, including Awake (1990); What We Carry (1994), a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; Smoke (2000); Facts about the Moon (2005), chosen by the poet Ai as winner of the Oregon Book Award and also a finalist for the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize; and The Book of Men (2011). She has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, and has been a Pushcart Prize winner. Laux teaches poetry in the Program in Creative Writing at North Carolina State University and is a founding faculty of Pacific University’s Low Residency MFA Program.
