In Praise of August
In Praise of August
By Daniel Thomas Moran
Dr. Daniel Thomas Moran is the author of three previous collections of poetry. He is also Arts and Literary Correspondent to Long Island Public Radio where he hosts The Long Island Public Radio Magazine. In 1997 he was appointed Trustee of The Walt Whitman Birthplace Association in Huntington New York. He has been published and appears widely and recently returned from a series of readings in Ireland. Dr. Moran has collaborated with artists, photographers, playwrights, composers, and jazz musicians. He is the proud father of Lindsay, Ashley, and Gregory and practices Dentistry on Shelter Island in New York.
The Swan and The Pond, Orphans, After Three Children, the voice in Moran’s poems, to name a few, seems so natural, uncontrived, like an afterthought that suddenly prevails. And there is his wit: God is love and love is blind.
-Samuel Menashe
The writing is sensitive and strong, with confidence and even virtuosity. He has compassion and intelligence, two things which do not always go together.
-Harold Schonberg
