WWBA is delighted to present a live virtual Poetry Reading with Poet & Voice Actor Bill Ratner. Bill Ratner’s poetry is a mixture of narrative and memory-driven work with a smidgen of humor, irony, occasional politics, and a good portion of elegy. With a background as a personal essayist and a long history with The Moth Storytelling, Bill’s poetry is often story-driven, but he believes that a poem must be more than just a simple tale; thus lyricism and the sound and tone of the live reading itself are key to his interests as a poet. Bill is the voice of “Flint” in the G.I. Joe TV cartoon and “Donnell Udina” in Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3.
Bill Ratner is a Poets & Writers Readings & Workshops Grant recipient. His poems, essays, and stories are published in The Chiron Review, The Baltimore Review, Rattle Magazine’s Rattlecast, Pleiades, KYSO Flash, South Florida Poetry Journal, Nixes Mate, Willawaw Journal, Missouri Review Audio, and other journals. His poetry chapbook is forthcoming from Finishing Line Press in 2021. His performances are featured on National Public Radio’s Good Food, The Business, and KCRW’s Strangers, and he is a 9-time winner of The Moth Story Slams. Bill works as a voice actor.
