Walt Whitman Birthplace Association (WWBA) presents Walking With Whitman: Poetry in Performance, hosted by Writer-in-Residence George Wallace.
The signature series, now in its 15th season, continues to bring the most intriguing figures in contemporary literature on the national scene paired with local poets on the Walt Whitman stage.
Event begins at 7:00pm. Light refreshments served.
There is a $12 entry fee for this event that will be collected at the door (no registration is required)
Michelle Whittaker is the author of Surge which was awarded a Next Generation Indie Book Award (great weather for Media) and recently Spoke the Dark Matter (Sundress Publication). Her work can be found in The New York Times Magazine, New Yorker, Shenandoah, Gulf Coast, Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-Day series and other publications. She was awarded a Jody Donohue Poetry Prize, and Pushcart Prize Special Mention. Currently she is the Associate Professor in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric at Stony Brook University.
Matthew Hupert is a writer and multi-media artist from New York City. He is a founder of the NeuroNautic Institute & of NeuroNautic Press. He has 2 full length collections, Ism is a Retrovirus (2011- Three Rooms Press) and Secular Pantheism (2019 – NeuroNautic Press). He is also the author of several chapbooks, & his writing has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies.
Matthew hosts several poetry reading series, including the annual showcase for New York voices, Night in the Naked City, and the monthly series NeuroNautic Institute Presents,. He is a recipient of the 2020 New York Acker Award for Show Organizer and Host
