Walt Whitman Birthplace Association (WWBA) presents Walking With Whitman: Poetry in Performance, hosted by Writer-in-Residence George Wallace.
The signature series, now in its 15th season, continues to bring the most intriguing figures in contemporary literature on the national scene paired with local poets on the Walt Whitman stage.

Roberto Aedo (Chillán, 1979-) is a Chilean poet, essayist, and scholar. He has published the poetry collection Replica (Réplica; Eloy, 2010) and some poems and literary essays in specialized books and magazines but voluntarily maintains six other unpublished poetry collections.He has been distinguished with the Poet of the Year Award in the Third Boao International Poetry Award (Hainan, China), and with the Outstanding Poetry Collection Award in the Third Silk Road International Poetry Award (Xi’an, China) both in 2020. In addition, he has participated in various national and international poetic meetings and academic conferences, including being one of the writers invited to the second version of the International Writing Program of the Lu Xun Academy of Literature, in Beijing, China, in 2018, and having been invited to the 34th version of the Medellín International Poetry Festival, in Medellín, Colombia, in 2024.
Hassanal Abdullah is a poet, novelist, critic and song writer. He is a sonnet form innovator (seven-seven stanza pattern and abcdabc efgdefg rhyming scheme) and the author of an epic on cosmology. His poetry has been translated into sixteen languages and was published in many anthologies around the world. He has been invited to international poetry festivals in China, Greece, Poland, Indian, Morocco, Mexico and Kenya. He edited World Poetry Anthology (Darklight Publishing, 2023) and translated Contemporary Bangladeshi Poetry (CCC, 2019). Mr. Abdullah is a retired NYC HS math teacher and the editor of Shabdaguchha since 1998. He received four international poetry awards, including the Homer Medal (2016). He was also awarded the Queens Council of Art translation grant, 2019. Abdullah is the author of 57 books in various genres.
